2 Perfect Trade Targets For The Washington Commanders

Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders

The Washington Commanders are entering what they hope to be a fresh new era.

To avoid suffering the same fate of the last 30 years, it would be wise to consider adding another piece to the puzzle for Jayden Daniels to take flight in his first season.

Here’s a look at two big trade targets the team should consider.

Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos

Courtland Sutton may have more top-10 highlight catches than any other player in the NFL in a single season. While his team didn’t exactly dominate through the air last season, he proved that he could beat any coverage and catch anything. On top of it all, he is unhappy with his current contract situation with the Broncos. As such, he could be available to add to the Commanders.

At this point, the Commanders’ wide receiver strategy of the last half decade is stuck in second gear. Defenses know to double-team Terry McLaurin. While he might get a few catches, no one else on the team can elevate him enough to open him up. As a result, the passing game gets stuck in the mud year after year. Adding Sutton as a second first-string wide receiver would work wonders to open up the passing game for Daniels.

Sutton has logged just one 1000-yard season in his career but could be just one reliable quarterback away from taking the league by storm.

Brandon Aiyuk, San Francisco 49ers

Brandon Aiyuk is clearly unhappy with his situation with the 49ers. Based on his comments in recent weeks, it is unclear how interested San Francisco is in keeping the wide receiver around. Ergo, a trade could be on the horizon.

Adding Aiyuk also would help break the stranglehold defenses have had on McLaurin.

McLaurin has proven to be solid, but has proven he can’t do it all on his own. For the offense to be truly dynamic, the Commanders need another top receiver.

With the potential addition of Aiyuk, the team’s offense would take a big step forward. This trade would do right by Daniels, giving him all of the tools to succeed right off the bat. It also would move him alongside Caleb Williams as one of the most hyped rookies in the league.
