3 Bold Predictions For Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson In 2024

Lamar Jackson got within one game of the Super Bowl last year. Despite locking up the number one seed in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens were unable to get it done.

However, with a new year comes new possibilities. Will Jackson pop like he did last year in the regular season?

Here’s a look at three bold predictions for the veteran Ravens quarterback.

Lamar Jackson will have fewer passing touchdowns than in 2023

Jackson has never been known for his arm. Jackson has thrown for 30 touchdowns just once in his NFL career and 25 or more touchdowns in his career just twice. Last season, Jackson threw for 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions. Those touchdown numbers will drop this season into the teens. It would be far from unprecedented for the quarterback, considering he has already done so twice in his veteran career.

He will be swept by Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes remains the standard in the NFL. While Jackson has been sold as the biggest potential rival with his polar opposite play style, he doesn’t deliver this year.

Jackson has beaten Mahomes before. However, not only will he lose when he faces the Chiefs in the season opener, but he will also lose when he faces them in the playoffs.

Of course, this won’t mean that he will completely implode this season. Instead, he is in for a step back after reminding opponents of his skill last year. While he didn’t win it all, he still managed to put a target on his back.

Lamar Jackson will have the least rushing yards of career

Analysts use Jackson as the face of scrambling quarterbacks to its extreme. However, those paid to talk will need to find another way to describe the quarterback’s game this year.

Over the last three years, Jackson’s rushing numbers have been a level lower than what they were in 2019 and 2020, which was the last time he rushed for 1000 yards.

However, with Derrick Henry available to do the rushing for him, Jackson will be happy to check into a running play instead of keeping the ball himself. This will effectively place much more pressure on Henry, but it will keep Jackson healthy all season long. This will allow Jackson to rush only in do-or-die scenarios.

Also, waiting allows defenses to fall asleep on him. When Lamar Jackson does run, he will gash defenses in much more effective ways.
