Keon Coleman has a lot riding on him. The Buffalo Bills are rebuilding their wide receiver room this year, and much of the future of the room depends on Coleman. Not many expect him to rise to the occasion. Most expect Josh Allen to suffer a wave of criticism as a result.

Will the Bills’ newest big addition be the silver bullet to catapult the team into the future?

Here’s a look at three big predictions for Coleman.

Rises to be the Buffalo Bills’ top receiver

According to ESPN’s depth chart, Coleman is the Bills’ second-string receiver as of Week 1. However, no depth chart is set in stone.

As Khalil Shakir takes the brunt of the attention from defenses, it will open the door for one-on-one matchups between the rookie and lower cornerbacks. Depending on scheming and the schedule, Coleman could face cornerbacks that could inch on the ones he faced in college in terms of skill gap.

As such, over time and as highlight plays accrue, the argument for raising Coleman into the top roster spot will grow. Eventually, Coleman will rise to the top role. However, this doesn’t mean he will be as productive in that role. Instead, this is merely a prediction that the change will happen.

Keon Coleman will get off to a slow start

While Coleman eventually will get into the groove of the NFL, it will take time. He will start slow with the Bills in September, failing to score a touchdown and stuck under 200 yards after four games. Part of this will be his growing pains by it also will be Allen attempting to force-feed Shakir like he did with Stefon Diggs. It is only after a month of struggle will he begin to look elsewhere more often, which will be a boom for Coleman.

Matches Stefon Diggs’ production from 2023

By the end of the year, Diggs’ 2023 totals will be matched by Coleman. He might not blow Diggs out of the water by any stretch, but he will get within the general range of his production. Last year, Diggs earned 1183 yards and eight touchdowns.

Much of his production came early in the year before falling off. Conversely, Coleman will start slow but heat up, setting the stage for an exciting 2025 future. By the end of the year, Coleman will have more than 1000 yards and about six touchdowns.

Buffalo Bills fans, bracing to rip into Allen yet again, will be greeted with the potential reality that it could be another decade before Allen gets the chance to have another rebuilding receiver core to deal with.
