5 NFL Players Who Could Still Be Traded

Tee Higgins, Cincinnati Bengals, NFL

As we approach the new NFL season, most of the teams have a fair idea of what their roster will look like. Teams will soon begin training camps which will provide them with a better idea of their final 53-man roster.

Even so, there is always the looming possibility that players could get traded at any time before the trade deadline.

Heading into the 2024 season, let us take a look at some prospective players who could still be traded.

Tee Higgins, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals

Tee Higgins is one of the biggest names on most trade lists. He is currently set to start the season with the Cincinnati Bengals, but his situation is not the ideal one.

Higgins, who will be playing in his fifth season in 2024, was looking for a long-term deal with the Bengals. Unfortunately, after back and forth between the two parties, the Bengals decided to franchise tag Higgins who ultimately signed the deal.

The Bengals are pushing for a Super Bowl win with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Higgins. What this means is that if they trade their WR2 then their aspirations would suffer a significant blow with Tyler Boyd already having signed with the Titans.

If they do end up keeping Higgins, then the downside would be that he would walk for free the following year.

Courtland Sutton, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos

Denver Broncos’ WR1, Courtland Sutton, is facing a similar situation as that of Tee Higgins.

As per reports, Sutton is not pleased with his current contract and is looking for more money. There have also been reports that the Steelers have been interested in Sutton’s services prior to and during the 2024 NFL Draft.

With the Broncos looking to rebuild their team and placing their faith in rookie quarterback Bo Nix, shipping off Sutton might not be the worst decision.

There is no evidence to suggest that Nix and Sutton would do wonders together, however, getting something in return via a trade could help the Broncos build for the future.

Budda Baker, Safety, Arizona Cardinals

Another situation that is growing more and more frustrating is the one in Arizona with their leading safety Budda Baker.

As a matter of fact, Baker had requested to be traded in 2023 after he couldn’t reach a contract agreement. Eventually, the Cardinals gave him a raise, but Baker’s contract will be up at the end of the 2024 season.

Given that their safety will be leaving for free next year, the Cardinals should consider parting ways with him while they can still get some returns in draft picks if any viable suitor comes calling.

Alvin Kamara, Running Back, New Orleans Saints

This one is rather tricky and could work out any way you look at it.

On the one side the Saints have one the best running backs in franchise history in Alvin Kamara. Furthermore, there is a decent chance that Kamara can get the Saints offense ticking in 2024 with the introduction of new offensive coordinatior Klint Kubiak.

However, on the flip side of things is the fact that Kamara’s numbers have been steadily declining for the past couple of seasons. 2023 was a down year for the Saints running back and to add to the Saints cap woes, Kamara will set them back by nearly $30 million.

Should an intriguing offer crop up, the Saints would do well to consider a trade.

James Bradberry, Cornerback, Philadelphia Eagles

Just a couple of seasons ago, James Bradberry was a fine cornerback who helped the Philadelphia Eagles reach Super Bowl LVII. However, 2023 was an atrocious year especially towards the back end of the season.

Bradberry was targeted more and more throughout the season by opposing quarterbacks and he had a tough time as did the rest of his teammates in the secondary.

Recognizing the need to shake things up in the secondary, the Eagles drafted younger cornerbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft and that has slid Bradberry down the pecking order.

If the Eagles view him as surplus to their needs, then there are several teams in the market looking for a prominent cornerback to add to their roster.
