Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix has an interesting recount of what happened with him and head coach Sean Payton.

The Denver Broncos are now 3-2 on the season after they defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 34-18 on Sunday. They’re finding their stride with rookie quarterback Bo Nix leading the way. They’ve had a couple of duds offensively, but that’s to be expected with an inexperienced signal-caller under center.

In the third quarter of the victory, Broncos head coach Sean Payton and Nix had a heated exchange. It’s unclear what was said, but emotions were flared and the two shared passionate words with one another.

Broncos head coach explains exchange with Nix

As Payton sees it, the conversation was simply a part of his love language sometimes. It was an essential moment to be had to ensure he helps the quarterback get to where he needs to be to lead the squad.

“It is part of the deal. There is still a little bit of Ferris Bueller in this player that we have to get rid of.

“I’m talking about Bo,” Payton said. “I love him to death and sometimes it is my love language.”

Sometimes a rookie quarterback needs to be checked. They’re still figuring out the league, and Payton is a proven head coach. There might not be too much to read into for the situation. The exchange didn’t bleed into postgame and is now a non-factor.

Bo Nix jokes about the situation

For Nix, he handled the situation well with the media after the game. Not only did he fire off a joke, but he then gave a more detailed answer regarding the fiery conversation.

“He turned and looked at me and said, ‘I love you,’ and I turned to him and said, ‘I love you back,’” Nix joked.

Of course, the Oregon product offered a real explanation following the joke.

“Yes, I’ve watched the movie,” Nix said. “I think it’s funny. That literally, I think, explains the situation.

“We’re just out there with great competitive intensity and fire. We can have those conversations and move right back along and score another few touchdowns. It doesn’t bother us.”

To be able to have such a fiery moment and heated exchange and keep moving forward proves the head coach-quarterback duo has a healthy relationship, which will be crucial for the club moving forward.
