The NFL season is in full force, and players are looking to maximize their seasons.
The Dallas Cowboys have struggled in 2024. They’re 3-2, but following the regular season they had in 2023, they’ve taken a dip. Evidently, if Dallas can never get over the hump, they might need to look into hitting the reset button.
Drafting successfully will be the way to go for the Cowboys, should they want to slowly usher in a new era. Finding contributors through the draft is essential if they want to move on from talents with higher salaries.
Could the club eventually move on from Dak Prescott? The Mississippi State product is 31-years-old. If the Cowboys can’t hoist the Lombardi trophy under his leadership, it might be time for them to look for a different quarterback.
Micah Parsons complimentary of Miami’s Cam Ward
College football is special for its own reasons. It is much different than the NFL, though the next crop of talent for league comes from the collegiate level. One of the next rising stars is Miami Hurricanes quarterback Cam Ward.
Cowboys star pass rusher Micah Parsons was complimentary of the college football star, claiming he’d want him as his quarterback.
“From what I’ve seen on the football field, when you talk about a quarterback I’d want on my team, it would be Cam Ward.” Parsons said. “He has the chance to be the first quarterback taken [in the draft]. He’s one of them ones.”
Right now, Ward has thrown for 2,219 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and just five interceptions through six weeks of play. The Hurricanes are 6-0 behind his play, too.
Could Ward fit in Dallas?
Let’s just say it is time for the Cowboys to look into a new future under center. Does Ward make sense for the Cowboys?
Up until this season, Ward hasn’t won at the college football level. Now he is, though, and he’s doing so at the power conference level with his program ranked No. 6 in the nation. The 6-foot-2, 223-pound quarterback has great size and mobility.
What sets Ward apart is his collectiveness both in and out of the pocket. He’s a sound passer, and it’s the reason for his elite passing numbers through six games of play in 2024. Should Prescott’s time be up in the DFW, and a youth movement is ready to ensue, Ward would be an intriguing prospect and has Parsons’ stamp of approval.
Quite how Dallas would get there, would be unclear. This season would have to take a real downwards turn, while the new contract given to Dak Prescott implies he will be there for the long haul. Yet with the Cowboys, you never really know what is around the corner.
