Dallas Cowboys Fans Won’t Like This Harsh Assessment

July is often the time of year when Dallas Cowboys fans can be seen pounding their chests and proclaiming that their team is about to win the Super Bowl championship during the upcoming season.

But this summer, those fans have been more chastened than usual, and it is understandable why.

The Cowboys have fallen short in the playoffs many times in a row in what has almost become an annual tradition, and they didn’t make any real improvements to their roster this offseason.

There is also a considerable amount of anxiety surrounding the organization, as pass rusher Micah Parsons, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott are all due contract extensions. Some have even surmised that 2024 will be Prescott’s farewell as a member of the Cowboys.

Recently, safety Malik Hooker criticized Parsons for doing his regular podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons.”

It led Jason McIntyre to say on “The Herd w/ Colin Cowherd” that the Cowboys are “disintegrating as we watch it.”

How much trouble are the Cowboys in?

McIntyre cited the fact that they haven’t improved in free agency, the fact that Prescott wants a giant bag, head coach Mike McCarthy’s beef with owner Jerry Jones and Hooker’s issue with Parsons as reasons why “America’s Team” is in disarray. In addition, McIntyre pointed out that multiple sources in Dallas’ locker room have said they’re fed up with Parsons, according to a local radio station.

For all the talk about how Prescott has played poorly in the playoffs, McIntyre also said Parsons has been subpar in the postseason, despite how well he has performed in the regular season since coming into the NFL in 2021.

The Cowboys have had one of football’s most talented teams in the last few years, and they have won 12 games in each of the last three seasons. But despite all their star power, they haven’t gotten past the divisional round with Prescott under center — in fact, they haven’t reached the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season.

The 1995 campaign also happens to be the last time the Cowboys won the Vince Lombardi Trophy. It has been that long since they have lived up to the lofty hype they have embraced, and their fans are very restless for something to improve.

It is very possible that 2024 is the beginning of the end for this current iteration of the team. Some have even suggested it would be in the team’s best interest to let Prescott walk and take its chances with a younger QB, such as backup Trey Lance.
