Dallas Cowboys Pressed To Add Former Pro Bowl Playmaker

As the Dallas Cowboys get ready for the start of the 2024 season, one of their biggest issues going into training camp is the running back position. Recently, they were pressed to address it sooner rather than later.

With the 2024 season getting closer and closer for the Cowboys, this feels like a massive season for the direction of the franchise. Last season, Dallas upset at home by the Green Bay Packers. Green Bay beat the Cowboys handily in the playoffs and many thought we might see some changes as result.

However, the Cowboys didn’t make any major shifts in terms of moving on from Dak Prescott or letting go of Mike McCarthy. Even though no major changes happened after the loss, the team didn’t really make any notable upgrades either.

Recently, Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report spoke about some needs for the Cowboys and who they should pursue. As expected, he spoke about the running back position and proposed they go after Kareem Hunt.

Here’s what he had to say.

This is probably the most obvious need on the Cowboys’ roster as training camp approaches. Dallas struggled to run the ball consistently in 2023—ranking 20th in yards per carry—and with Pollard out, the ground game is even more of a question mark.

Dallas didn’t address its backfield in the draft and only added Royce Freeman and Ezekiel Elliott in free agency. It is now eying a full-on backfield committee for the 2024 season.

Will the 2024 campaign be another disappointing one for the Cowboys?

For years the Cowboys have relied on a strong offensive line and a good running game. However, there has been a shift in the organization in recent years to throw the ball more. While the NFL is certainly a passing league, it is still very important to be able to run the football.

Going into the season, there are a ton of question marks at the running back position for the Cowboys. Adding a player like Hunt wouldn’t solve all their problems, but it would give them some more depth and a player that has had success in the NFL.

With some questions in the backfield and in other areas, the Cowboys could very well be a team that we see regress this season. As shown in the playoffs, there are some up and coming teams in the NFC, and the Cowboys don’t appear to be keeping up. If disappointments continue, expect big changes in Dallas.
