Back in July, new Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton took a massive shot at the previous coaching regime, saying that former Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett put together one of the worst performances in NFL history last year.

Payton was widely criticized for essentially breaking an unwritten rule, and afterward, he apologized.

Now, the shoe is on the other foot.

Denver has gotten off to a horrendous 0-3 start in Payton’s first season at the helm, most recently suffering a humiliating 70-20 loss at the hands of the Miami Dolphins this past weekend.

To make matter worse, Payton was very terse with the local media after the game.

Former Broncos wide receiver Brandon Stokley was not exactly pleased with Payton’s behavior and said as much during his radio show on 104.3 The Fan.

“Honestly here, and I’m a Sean Payton fan here,” Stokely said, via Awful Announcing. “He has treated the local media differently. Right? You don’t get passes when you come in and you try to change everything and you treat the local media one way but the national media another way. You’re their best friend. They can have full access and whatever they want, whatever they need, they’ve got. Local media? We’ve been relegated. All of a sudden, everything looks different than in the past and the performance was awful.”

Payton experienced tremendous success during his 16-year tenure as head coach of the New Orleans Saints, winning a Super Bowl and seven NFC South division titles. He also took his team to the playoffs nine times overall.

However, things have been quite a bit different for Sean Payton thus far in the Mile High City.

The Broncos will aim to pick up their first win when they take on the Chicago Bears in a battle of winless teams on Sunday.
