Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns are entering a pivotal 2024 NFL season when it comes to their relationship together. After ponying up a massive trade package to acquire Watson, the Browns simply haven’t gotten a good return on their investment.

Whether it be due to injuries or simply inconsistent play, the trade to acquire Watson has not paid off.

Last season with the Browns, Watson ended up playing in just six games. He also played in just six games back in 2022. In the 2023 season, he completed 61.4 percent of his pass attempts for 1,115 yards, seven touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Those numbers simply aren’t going to get the job done and the lack of availability has been brutal as well. That leads to the 2024 season potentially being a make or break season for Watson with the Browns.

One former NFL star spoke out and revealed an ominous prediction for Watson heading into the 2024 season.

Former Star Reveals Ominous Prediction For Browns’ QB Deshaun Watson

Former Green Bay Packers star wide receiver and current NFL analyst James Jones did not hold back on his thoughts about Watson’s future with the Browns. He thinks that the marriage between the two parties is very much in jeopardy entering this season.

“If you do not play well, he gonna be out of there. If you come in here and you’re not available and you are not playing at a high level, Deshaun Watson is gonna be gone. I don’t know, if he has another bad season, how many teams are gonna give him an opportunity?”

Jones continued forward, providing an even more brutal assessment of Deshaun Watson.

“Deshaun Watson, if we really truly keeping it 100, he’s been one of the worst quarterbacks in our league. All we can say is, eventually the Houston dude gonna come back. Maybe the Houston dude gone, because I have seen zero flashes of it. Not a run, not a throw, zero flashes of that dude.”

While those comments are brutal, to say the least, they are also facts. The Cleveland Browns have seen zero reason to believe that Watson can still be their long-term star franchise quarterback. It seems that he has dwindled down to being a small shell of his former self.

At 28 years of age, Watson is in danger of becoming a nobody in the NFL. He’s in danger of never getting another shot to be a starting quarterback. The 2024 season will dictate what his future holds.

All of that being said, the Browns are going to give him one more chance. If he can come into the 2024 season and put everything together, he can recover his career and become the player Cleveland acquired him to be. On the other hand, if he can’t, his career could be practically over.

There are very few players in the NFL facing the kind of pressure that Watson is facing this season. It will be interesting to see if he is able to rise to the occasion.
