Former Super Bowl Champion Shares Ominous Warning For Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles have gotten off to a 2-0 start, but they have looked a little shaky in the process.

They opened up the season with a 25-20 win over the New England Patriots and followed that up with a 34-28 victory over the Minnesota Vikings last Thursday.

While a win is a win, there is no denying that the Eagles haven’t looked quite themselves over the first two weeks, and former NFL offensive lineman Willie Colon thinks the problem lies with Jalen Hurts.

“If Jalen Hurts doesn’t go back to who we know he can be, there’s gonna be trouble,” Colon said on The Carton Show this week.

Colon won a Super Bowl with the Pittsburgh Steelers during his playing days.

After a thoroughly impressive 2022 campaign in which Hurts earned a trip to the Pro Bowl and took Philadelphia all the way to the Super Bowl, he has looked a little off in the early stages of 2023.

Through the first two games, Hurts has thrown for 363 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while completing 71.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 93.1. He has also carried the ball 21 times for 72 yards and two scores, but he is logging just 3.4 yards per attempt.

Of course, Philly has a new offensive coordinator in Brian Johnson after Shane Steichen departed to take the Indianapolis Colts head-coaching job, so that may be playing in a role in Hurts’ early malaise. That being said, Johnson was the Eagles’ quarterbacks coach last year, so it’s not like Hurts is completely unfamiliar with him.

It’s not that Hurts has played poorly, but after tallying a 101.5 passer rating and finishing second in MVP voting last year, his performance through Week 2 of this season has certainly been a downgrade.

Fortunately, the season is still young, so there is plenty of time for Hurts and the Eagles to get back on track.

Philadelphia will aim to do just that when it hosts the Washington Commanders on Sunday.
