Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers have a promising season ahead following their 2023 success.
2023 marked Love’s first season as the Packers starting quarterback after trading Aaron Rodgers to the New York Jets.
The 25-year-old had a rocky start to the season but bounced back. Love completed 64.2 percent of his passes for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
While Love could do better at limiting turnovers, he had a productive campaign.
Love led the Packers to a 9-8 record, which was enough to make it to the postseason. He then propelled them to an upset victory over the Dallas Cowboys, 48-32, in the Wild Card Round.
Although Green Bay would lose in the Divisional Round to the San Francisco 49ers, this was a positive season in what was expected to be a rebuilding year.
Heading into the 2024 season, Love seems extremely optimistic about their chances, stating, “Since I’ve been here, I feel like this is the closest the team’s been … I think this team’s at an awesome spot right now.”
The Packers were aggressive in the offseason to bolster their roster after being the youngest roster in the league in 2023.
However, their additions were young players, which could once again make Green Bay the youngest team in the NFL.
Green Bay Packers reinforcements make them a true NFC contender
The Packers made some great additions this offseason, setting them up to be a contender in the NFC.
Green Bay added star safety Xavier McKinney to a four-year $68 million deal. At 24, McKinney fits the timeline of the Packers’ core, helping them compete now and over the next few years.
On the other side of the ball, the Packers signed star running back Josh Jacobs to a four-year $48 million deal. Jacobs will take over the lead-back role for Aaron Jones, who the Packers released.
Green Bay also made additions to key positions in the draft. The Packers selected offensive tackle Jordan Morgan in the first round, and in the second round, they took linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and safety Javon Bullard.
An under-the-radar pick came in the third round with running back MarShawn Lloyd. Lloyd was one of the top running backs in the class and will split a secondary back role with AJ Dillon.
Coming off a promising 2023 season, the Green Bay Packers have a lot to be excited about. With their additions this offseason, Jordan Love is right to be hopeful about the Packers’ chances in the 2024 season.
