The 2024 NFL offseason was spent by the Houston Texans upgrading the roster around star quarterback C.J. Stroud. Multiple acquisitions were made, taking advantage of the fact he will be on his rookie contract for a few more seasons.

One of the players who the Texans acquired was star wide receiver Stefon Diggs. In a trade from the Buffalo Bills, Houston sent a 2025 second-round pick to receive Diggs and two draft picks; a 2024 sixth-rounder and a 2025 fifth-rounder.

Toward the end of his tenure with the Bills, Diggs was no longer a bright spot for the franchise. He seemingly wasn’t seeing eye-to-eye with the coaching staff anymore, which was causing some issues within the team.

The writing was on the wall for his departure as his production in the second half of the season fell off a cliff. Looking for another upgrade to their offense, Houston was willing to take a chance on him.

So far, things look to be going smoothly. Diggs is excited about the opportunity that he has with a new franchise as he looks to cash in as a free agent in 2025 with another big contract.

His presence should make things easier for everyone on the Texans’ offense. Nico Collins and Tank Dell will benefit from teams being unable to focus their coverages solely on them and Stroud has another elite weapon to work with in the passing game.

The Ohio State product is someone that Diggs thinks highly of, as they are more than just teammates.

“It’s been a nice road,” Diggs said. “I look at him as family, not just my quarterback. I’m rocking with him through thick and thin. I always tell him I am with you when you’re right, I’m with you when you’re wrong.”

The two have had a budding relationship all offseason. Stroud has been helping Diggs learn the team’s playbook and they have been putting in extra work to develop chemistry for the season.

“It has improved drastically. I think me and him already had a natural connection on the field and we just built it and built it and built it,” Stroud said this week. “I think you have seen it on the field, just rep, after rep, after rep. Just me and him having a conversation, just me and him talking about things we like, things we don’t like and just being transparent. It is going to continue to grow, and it is going to be a special connection.”

Two of the team’s seven captains this season, expect the Houston Texans’ offensive stars to help take this team to the next level.
