Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Makes Huge Statement On Rookie

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is particularly excited about one rookie the Jets selected in the NFL Draft last month.

That rookie is wide receiver Malachi Corley.

New York took Corley in the third round, making him the 12th wide out selected in the class. However, in spite of plenty of other receivers being chosen before Corley, Rodgers is especially thrilled that the Western Kentucky product fell to Gang Green, calling him “my favorite receiver in the draft” during an appearance on the Official Jets Podcast.

“Now, he might not have been the best on paper in the draft, but I really felt like he was going to fit in with what we’re trying to do — his mindset, his ferocity,” added Rodgers.

The Jets actually traded up to grab Corley, so Rodgers must have let the organization know that he wanted to add the young receiver to his ever-growing stable of pass-catchers.

The Jets Have Supplied Aaron Rodgers With Weapons For 2024

New York has done a terrific job of supplying Rodgers with the appropriate weapons heading into the 2024 campaign.

In addition to drafting Corley, it signed former Los Angeles Chargers receiver Mike Williams in free agency. That gives the Jets a very intriguing receiving trio that also includes Garrett Wilson.

Of course, Williams is coming off of a torn ACL, so that is worth monitoring. But, if he is healthy, New York may very well end up having one of the better groups of receivers in football.

The Jets also have running back Breece Hall and tight end Tyler Conklin returning from last season, so there will be no shortage of options for Rodgers come September.

Additionally, New York patched up what had previously been a terrible offensive line, making some moves in free agency and selecting tackle Olumuyiwa Fashanu in the first round of the draft.

Basically, the Jets have done everything in their reasonable power to set Rodgers up for success in 2024.

Obviously, Rodgers is recovering from a torn Achilles and is 40 years old, so there are questions as to whether or not he will be able to perform at a high level at this stage. But if Aaron Rodgers resembles anything close to his Green Bay Packers form, the rest of the NFL will be in some trouble.

New York boasts a terrific defense, as well, and it added a big-time pass rusher in Haason Reddick via trade earlier this offseason.

The Jets can honestly say that they have one of the most talented rosters in the league. Now, they need to get out on the field and turn that talent into actual results.
