NFL fans are in for a treat this weekend when the Baltimore Ravens take on the season’s surprise package, the Washington Commanders.
When the NFL schedule was released, not many expected the week six match-up between Baltimore and Washington to feature the Commanders with the better record.
After an 0-2 start the Baltimore Ravens are up to 3-2, still one game back from Washington Commanders sitting at 4-1 at the top of the NFC East.
This week’s ‘Battle of the Beltway’ is a clash between two of the most exciting quarterbacks, featuring 2023 season MVP Lamar Jackson, and sensational rookie Jayden Daniels, who is a genuine contender for the 2024 MVP award.
John Harbaugh on Jayden Daniels
Long-serving Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has managed to get the team back to a winning record after a tough start, and he knows this week’s game is going to be difficult.
Ahead of the game at Baltimore’s M&T Bank Stadium, Harbaugh discussed Jayden Daniels, and issued five words which showed his respect, admitting: “We’ve got our hands full.”
Elaborating, he went on: “I see a really good quarterback. Every week, you look at the quarterback; that’s where the offense starts.
“We just have to look at him and how he fits into their offense, and [we have to] prepare for their offense — run by him — and that’s a big challenge. I mean, we’ve got our hands full with that.”
Dan Quinn plays down Lamar Jackson comparisons
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is also wary of the danger Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson poses.
At the same time he was eager to play down comparisons with Daniels, and says he simply wants his number-two draft pick to be his own man.
He is quoted via NFL.com: “I think everybody knows how exceptional and remarkable Lamar is, and so I get why people would say that, here’s somebody who’s got athletic ability and can absolutely rip it as well.
“But I’ve always wanted Jayden to be the best version of him and absolutely go for it in that way.”
It is Lamar Jackson who enters the match-up with more pressure. Daniels has little to lose – but if he wins, then he really will believe anything is possible.
