Justin Jefferson and the Minnesota Vikings claimed victory over the New York Jets in the first London game of the NFL season.

All eyes were on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday as the NFL landed in London.

The home of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur has joined Wembley Stadium in hosting NFL regular season games.

Fans watched the Minnesota Vikings take on the New York Jets on Sunday and it was Sam Darnold and the Vikings who came out in top.

Aaron Rodgers threw three interceptions in a tough day for the Jets quarterback, who threw 54 passes in a losing effort.

The Vikings move to 5-0 on the season whereas the Jets now have a losing record at 2-3 – not exactly what Rodgers and co were envisaging for this season.

Justin Jefferson on ‘special’ jersey statistic amid Travis Kelce battle

With the Vikings in the UK, star wide receiver Justin Jefferson has spoken to the London Evening Standard.

Jefferson caught six passes for 92 yards against the Jets but wasn’t able to treat fans to a touchdown.

Jefferson, who signed a huge new contract with the Vikings earlier in 2024, is certainly popular in the UK.

The London Evening Standard told him that he had the second best-selling jersey in the UK in the month of June, behind only Travis Kelce.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Kelce is one of the biggest names in the game, in part due to his relationship with Taylor Swift, and that will have had a huge impact on his jersey sales.

Jefferson sat second though and the receiver admitted that it’s ‘pretty special’ to see his jersey selling so strongly overseas.

Jefferson noted that fans in the UK aren’t ‘around football’ very often, so to see them take a liking to him means a lot.

“It definitely matters!” said Jefferson.

“It’s a whole different fanbase that’s not around football, doesn’t have football in their country. So to have my jersey [selling that well] is pretty special,” he added.

Best-selling NFL jerseys in the UK

Jefferson was in second place in June with Rodgers, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams below him.

Louis Rees-Zammit remarkably landed in sixth place before his Chiefs departure and was followed by San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love and Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb.

There are some huge names in there and Jefferson has put himself in that upper echelon of NFL stars since the Vikings drafted him out of LSU in 2020.

Still only 25 and with 34 receiving touchdowns to his name, Jefferson should be an NFL superstar for years to come.

That means we can expect to see more and more Jefferson jerseys in the United States and in the UK as his popularity grows and grows – with no Taylor Swift influence needed.
