One of the worst-kept secrets about Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is his age.

The 35-year-old is closer to the end of his career than the beginning of it. With his brother Jason Kelce now retired, it appears the tight end has given his post-football life some thought.

Travis Kelce expressed his desires about the future in a recent conversation on the “New Heights” podcast.

Speaking on the podcast, Jason asked Kelce point blank if he would rather be an NFL owner or a broadcaster. The choice was easy for the superstar pass-catcher.

Travis declared that he would rather commentate on the NFL than own a piece of a team in it.

The catalyst for the conversation was Tom Brady.

Brady has been in the news as someone attempting to both work as an NFL commentator and as a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. However, there are many conflicts of interest between the two positions.

Commentators are exposed to much more classified information than owners. Owners, who have a stake in how the game turns out, would be privy to that information so they could hand it to their coaches. Those coaches would then unfairly scheme against the offenses and defenses exposed by the insider information.

As such, that is why commentators and owners are never the same person. Of course, the astronomical price of owning an NFL team also plays a role.

Brady only got the chance to own part of the Raiders because it is alleged that owner Mark Davis was willing to get the former quarterback a hefty discount. However, the other owners were not thrilled with the idea, and it appears to be stuck at the time of writing.

Travis Kelce pursues massive leg up into media broadcasting world

Of course, Travis Kelce has more pressing matters on the football field this season. The tight end has been tasked with helping Patrick Mahomes secure the first three-peat Super Bowl win streak in NFL history.

The Super Bowl “turkey” has been chased by teams for decades, but no one has managed to win it all three times in a row.

That said, some teams have gotten close. The Buffalo Bills managed to reach four consecutive Super Bowls in the 1990s, but lost every game. Had they instead managed to win three straight, the Bills would own the accolade.

The Dallas Cowboys also had a shot at three in a row, per Pro Football Reference. The Cowboys went to three Super Bowls in four years and had a two-Super Bowl winning streak. However, in the third year, they lost in the Conference Championship before winning it all the next season.

If Travis Kelce were to win three straight Super Bowls with Mahomes, not only would he ingratiate himself even further in Chiefs history, but he also would elevate himself with the likes of Shannon Sharpe.

Sharpe played tight end with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. The Hall-of-Famer won three Super Bowls between both squads. He still is on the airwaves on an almost daily basis via First Take and various podcasts.

Will Travis Kelce elevate to become the next Shannon Sharpe?
