The Las Vegas Raiders are going to be an interesting team to watch during the upcoming 2024 NFL season.

Antonio Pierce started turning the franchise around after taking over for former head coach Josh McDaniels last season. In fact, the Raiders were starting to look like a very competitive football team.

Heading into the 2024 season, expectations are high in Las Vegas. Fans are expecting the team to compete for a spot in the playoffs.

With that in mind, the Raiders could look to add more talent if it makes sense. At the running back position, there are some questions marks. Zamir White is capable of handling the starting job, but adding more help and insurance for him would make a lot of sense.

Las Vegas Raiders Linked To Two Intriguing Running Backs

Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report has made two suggestions for the Raiders to shore up their running back position. He thinks a couple of veteran running backs could make sense as potential targets.

Both Kareem Hunt and Dalvin Cook would be wise players to pursue late in NFL free agency.

“Unfortunately, an early run at the position in free agency has left the market devoid of quality ball-carriers. Las Vegas could take a flier on Dalvin Cook, who was a Pro Bowler in 2022 but struggled to see the field last season. Kareem Hunt has lost some of his burst, but he’s still an effective short-yardage and goal-line back. The list of available backs also includes Matt Breida, Cam Akers and Latavius Murray.”

Clearly, the two best options on that list are Cook and Hunt.

Cook ended up playing in 15 games last season with the New York Jets, but he wasn’t able to carve out a good role. He carried the football 67 times for 214 yards.

Hunt, on the other hand, spent the 2024 season with the Cleveland Browns. He played in 15 games, racking up 411 yards and nine touchdowns on 135 carries.

Neither player is in their prime. They have both lost a step since they were stars in the NFL. However, they’re capable of handling a smaller workload and still being productive when called upon.

If the Raiders truly want to compete for a spot in the playoffs, they need to be as deep and talented as possible. Signing either Cook or Hunt would help at running back.

With training camp right around the corner, it will be interesting to see what happens in Las Vegas. They have a talented roster, but there are a few questions that need to be answered.

At running back, adding one of these two guys could help their offense reach its full potential and be clutch moves if an injury were to occur in the backfield.
