Los Angeles Chargers Make Blockbuster Trade For CeeDee Lamb In Proposal

Could the Los Angeles Chargers swing a blockbuster trade to land CeeDee Lamb?

Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon poses the possibility.

Lamb is currently locked in a contract standoff with the Dallas Cowboys, which has prompted speculation that he could be dealt.

Gagnon sees the Chargers as a perfect fit and has them sending incoming rookie wide out Ladd McConkey and a first-round pick to the Cowboys in exchange for Lamb.

This would actually be a nice return for Dallas, as it would land a talented young receiver as well as a very valuable draft asset.

For Los Angeles, the need for a receiver is obvious. The Chargers subtracted both of their top two wide outs this offseason, trading Keenan Allen and releasing Mike Williams.

Right now, Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer are slated to be the top two players at the position for the Bolts entering 2024. Los Angeles did select Johnston in the first round last spring, but he is very unproven, and Palmer almost certainly isn’t a No. 1-quality receiver.

If there is any ballclub out there that can use Lamb, it’s LA.

Would the Cowboys Seriously Consider Trading CeeDee Lamb?

Of course, this is all moot if the Cowboys don’t actually have any intention of trading Lamb.

And you know what? At this point, they probably don’t.

Dallas is trying to win a Super Bowl, and Lamb is one of the best wide receivers in football. Trading him would be pretty counterproductive to the Cowboys’ championship dreams.

Plus, Dallas is said to be prioritizing Lamb, who is entering the final year of his deal. Chances are, the Cowboys will work out some sort of extension for him before the 2024 campaign begins.

It may end up being a massive contract, too.

Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson just inked a four-year, $140 million pact, and while Lamb isn’t expected to exceed or match Jefferson, he will almost surely come very close and could end up securing a contract worth $33-34 million annually.

CeeDee Lamb is coming off of a masterful 2023 season in which he led the NFL with 135 receptions to go along with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. He made his third straight trip to the Pro Bowl and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection for his efforts.
