New Green Bay Packers Star Is Already Recruiting Talent To The Team

The Green Bay Packers signed running back Josh Jacobs in free agency earlier this offseason, and Jacobs is already making himself at home.

Not only is Jacobs preparing to play a major role in the Packers’ offense for the 2024 campaign, but he is already attempting to recruit other stars to the club.

Apparently, Jacobs shot a text to his now-former Las Vegas Raiders teammate Davante Adams asking if he would return to Green Bay’s receiving corps after spending the first eight years of his career there.

Of course, it’s not that simple.

Adams is under contract with the Raiders through 2026, and Las Vegas doesn’t seem to have any intention of moving him. Plus, even if Adams did request a trade, it would be difficult for him to steer his way back to Green Bay.

It’s definitely an intriguing thought, though.

The Packers boast an impressive young receiving corps that includes Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.

Obviously, adding a true No. 1 receiver in Adams would be nice, but it’s not like Green Bay is desperate for help at the position right now.

Josh Jacobs Was a Surprising Signing For The Packers

One of the free-agent moves that came out of left field was definitely Green Bay’s decision to sign Jacobs to a lucrative multi-year deal.

The Packers were absolutely not considered contenders for Jacobs going into free agency, and they weren’t even viewed as a team that would be heavy in the market for running backs.

However, Green Bay saw the opportunity to add Jacobs, and it pounced.

Unfortunately, the Packers’ decision to sign Jacobs resulted in the club also releasing fellow halfback Aaron Jones, but Jacobs is almost certainly an upgrade.

He didn’t have the best year with the Raiders in 2023, rushing for 805 yards and six touchdowns while averaging a meager 3.5 yards per carry. In Jacobs’ defense, he battled injuries and was limited to just 13 games on the season.

It should also be noted that the 26-year-old is just two years removed from leading the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards to go along with 12 scores. He logged a robust 4.9 yards per attempt in 2022 and also added 53 receptions for 400 yards.

Jacobs is a two-time Pro Bowler and earned a First-Team All-Pro selection for his superb work in 2022.

We’ll see if Josh Jacobs can bolster a Packers rushing offense that ranked a middling 15th in the league this past season.
