New Miami Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith is certainly not making himself any friends in Buffalo.

During an appearance on the Dive Bar Podcast, Smith lit into the city, saying that he does not understand how any players go to Buffalo.

“That’s why the fans be hating so much because they want to be down here [in Miami]. You ever went to Buffalo? Oh, my gosh, man. I don’t know how those dudes do it,” Smith said. “I don’t know how they did it. I don’t know how they did it, man. Going from anywhere in the country, man, and going to Buffalo. It got to be the worst place you could be.”

Smith didn’t stop there, though. He committed a cardinal sin by ripping the most famous food choice of Buffalo residents.

“And the Buffalo wings ain’t even good. They ain’t even good,” Smith said.

The 28-year-old spent two seasons with the New England Patriots in 2021 and 2022, so he is certainly familiar with Buffalo from having to travel there to play the Bills as an AFC East rival.

Smith then joined the Tennessee Titans for one year before signing with the Dolphins earlier this offseason, so he is able to resume his love affair with one of the NFL’s coldest cities.

Jonnu Smith had a breakout season in 2023

For as explosive as Miami’s offense was last season, it didn’t get a whole lot of production out of the tight end position. The Dolphins’ most productive tight end in 2023 was Durham Smythe, who registered 35 catches for 366 yards.

Meanwhile, Smith enjoyed the best year of his career with the Titans, hauling in 50 receptions for 582 yards and three touchdowns.

Those aren’t exactly Travis Kelce numbers, but they are certainly better than what Miami got out of its tight ends last year.

Smith will join an aerial attack that features a receiving corps of Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and now Odell Beckham Jr., who took his talents to South Beach as a free agent.

We’ll see how much Tua Tagovailoa utilizes Smith given how many other weapons he has at his disposal. That also includes running backs Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane.

As for Smith? He will almost definitely hear his fair share of boos when the Dolphins travel to Highmark Stadium in early November.
