As the New York Giants get set for training camp, quarterback Daniel Jones was shockingly named a sleeper candidate at the quarterback position for Fantasy Football.

It has been a strange career thus far for Jones with the Giants. Coming out of college, not many were thrilled with the decision to draft Jones with a Top-10 pick, and his play early on his career left a lot to be desired.

However, in 2022, with Brian Daboll as the head coach, Jones found his groove. While everyone was expecting that season to be Jones’ last with the Giants, he ended up having his best season with the team and even won a road playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings.

With expectations higher for him in 2023 after a strong 2022 season and getting a nice new contract, Jones didn’t play well and then suffered a season-ending injury.

Now, there are once again a lot of questions about Jones’ future with the Giants, but after electing not to use their first-round pick on a quarterback, Jones will have another season to prove himself.

Recently, Pro Football Focus named Jones as a sleeper candidate in Fantasy Football.

Here’s what they had to say.

There is reason to believe Jones could match his 2022 fantasy production this season. The wide receivers he’ll have at his disposal are much better than they were at the start of last year.

Darius Slayton, Parris Campbell and Isaiah Hodgins were the three primary wide receivers when Jones was healthy last season. This year, Jones has Malik Nabers as his new lead wide receiver. Wan’Dale Robinson is healthy and should be his second-best option. Jalin Hyatt hadn’t earned much playing time while Jones was healthy last year, but he should also be part of the mix.

Can Daniel Jones rebound for the Giants in 2024?

A bounceback season from Jones is certainly possible, as the Giants have gotten him some upgrades at the wide receiver position. However, Jones has never been asked to carry the offense, and without Saquon Barkley, that will be a major adjustment.

For fantasy purposes, nobody has ever questioned Jones’ ability to run the ball on the ground. With Barkley gone, New York may very well ask him to use his legs more often.

The biggest question mark for Jones will be his ability to stay healthy. Jones is a physical runner when he does use his legs and he has absorbed some big hits and there is concern about his neck holding up.

However, if he can stay healthy, Daniel Jones might be a nice sleeper option in the late rounds of a draft.
