Aaron Rodgers looked a bit like his vintage self on Thursday night, carving up the New England Patriots’ defense in a 24-7 New York Jets victory.

However, during the game, fans witnessed a rather head-scratching moment between Rodgers and head coach Robert Saleh.

Following the Jets’ second touchdown of the evening, Saleh went to hug Rodgers, but Rodgers gave Saleh a celebratory shove to the chest and gave him a quick glance.

It was almost certainly much ado about nothing, but anything Rodgers says or does these days attracts attention, especially in the media capital of the world.

Naturally, the 40-year-old quarterback was asked about what was described as an “awkward” moment after the game, but Rodgers brushed it off.

“No, it’s not really awkward at all,” Rodgers told reporters, via Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports. “He’s not a big hugger, usually. So I didn’t know he was going for the hug. He likes to do the two-handed chest push as well. But he talks a lot about two-score leads. So I kind of gave him a push and said, ‘Two-score lead.’”

As Rodgers once famously said: relax.

The future Hall-of-Famer went 27-for-35 with 281 yards and a couple of touchdowns against the Patriots. On the season overall, he has thrown for 624 yards, five touchdowns and an interception while completing 67.4 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 103.1.

Also on his statline? The first of many media-driven “incidents” for Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Jets will aim to improve to 3-1 when they host the Denver Broncos next Sunday.
