New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers Publicly Recruits Davante Adams

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers really wants Davante Adams on his team.

During a recent appearance on the Up & Adams Show, Adams said that Rodgers is constantly in his ear about potentially playing together, although Adams wouldn’t elaborate too much on what exactly they have discussed (for obvious reasons).

Well, Rodgers didn’t exactly leave much open to interpretation on Thursday.

While at a golf tournament in Nevada, Rodgers was asked how new Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator Luke Getsy would utilize Adams. Rodgers complimented Getsy, and then said that he couldn’t wait to play with Adams “again.”

Of course, Rodgers likes to toy with the media, so it’s entirely possible he said this to stir up a firestorm.

It also stands to reason that Rodgers was slyly referring to the Pro Bowl, as both Rodgers and Adams play in the AFC and could very well be Pro Bowl teammates next winter.

Regardless, Adams has already said that Rodgers has kind of, sort of been recruiting him, so Rodgers’ comments here could have had a double meaning.

Will Davante Adams ask for a trade from the Raiders?

Adams spent the first eight years of his career playing with Rodgers in Green Bay before the Packers traded the superstar wide receiver to the Raiders in March 2022.

It didn’t take long for Adams to begin expressing his frustration in Las Vegas, as he publicly voiced his displeasure with the organizational direction twice last season.

Things appeared to cool down on that front once the Raiders fired head coach Josh McDaniels and replaced him with Antonio Pierce, but with Adams being 31 years old, you have to wonder how much more patience he is going to exercise.

Adams is under contract through 2026, so Las Vegas doesn’t have to move him. But if Adams becomes discontented again, he could try to force the Raiders’ hand.

The six-time Pro Bowler recently said that he expects Las Vegas’ offense to show improvement in 2024. If it doesn’t, will Adams decide he has had enough?

All of that being said, even if Adams demands a trade, there is no guarantee the Raiders would trade him to the Jets. They would want to find the best deal for themselves, and whether or not New York would actually be able to offer that is anyone’s guess.

It’s still cool to imagine Aaron Rodgers throwing touchdown passes to Davante Adams with the pair both wearing green again, though.
