Jets’ Breece Hall Doesn’t Hold Back On 49ers’ Christian McCaffrey

Breece Hall and the New York Jets will be opening their 2024 NFL regular season against Christian McCaffrey and the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 9, and Hall is looking forward to seeing his counterpart.

He also thinks McCaffrey is the best running back in football.

“I feel like right now McCaffrey’s the best in the league,” Hall said, via Coral Smith of NFL.com. “To me, he sets the standard. We’re going to see him in Week 1 and we’re playing against some of the best linebackers. For me, it’s exciting just to see where I stand and really let everyone see my full talent now that I’m healthy.”

I think just about everyone would agree that McCaffrey is the No. 1 halfback in the league right now.

The 49ers star is coming off of a spectacular 2023 campaign in which he led the NFL with 1,459 rushing yards to go along with 14 touchdowns on the ground. He averaged a robust 5.4 yards per carry and also hauled in 67 receptions for 564 yards and seven scores.

In addition to pacing the league in rushing, McCaffrey also finished at the top in touches, yards from scrimmage and rushing and receiving scores.

As a result, the 28-year-old made his third Pro Bowl while also earning his second First-Team All-Pro selection. Plus, he won Offensive Player of the Year and finished third in MVP voting.

Could Breece Hall be the NFL’s next breakout running back?

We already know that McCaffrey is a stud, but Hall appears to be a budding star, as well.

The Iowa State product saw his rookie campaign end after just seven games in 2022 due to a torn ACL, but he returned with a vengeance last year, registering 994 yards and five touchdowns as rusher while logging 4.5 yards per attempt. On top of that, Hall caught 76 passes for 591 yards and four scores.

What makes Hall’s 2023 stat line so impressive is the fact that he achieved all of that with the Jets lacking a consistent aerial attack with Zach Wilson under center.

With Aaron Rodgers healthy and ready to go for Week 1, Hall could be in for an even bigger season in 2024, and a 1,000-yard campaign could very well be in his future.

Breece Hall may never be Christian McCaffrey, but he could still end up stamping his name among the best running backs in football.
