As the New York Jets head into the bye week, they have performed extremely well against the elite quarterbacks in the league this season.

Despite not having Aaron Rodgers, New York finds itself heading into its bye week with a 3-3 record. There have been a lot of ups and downs this season already for the Jets, but they have shown some reliance so far this season.

While there have been some great wins and some bad losses, the Jets have shown that they can compete with the elite at the quarterback position. So far this season, the Jets have faced off against Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, and Jalen Hurts. These three are some of the best players in the league, and the Jets have done quite well against them.

In the first week of the season, the Jets forced Allen into four turnovers, with three interceptions and a lost fumble. The extra possessions for the Jets resulted in one of the franchise’s best wins in recent memory.

After a couple of tough losses, the Jets bounced back in a big way against the Kansas City Chiefs and Mahomes. Nobody was really giving the Jets a chance in this game, but they were able to force Mahomes into some uncharismatic mistakes, and only lost by three points.

In their most recent game, the Jets were able to upset the Philadelphia Eagles in large part to frustrating Jalen Hurts. In the loss to the Jets, Hurts threw three interceptions in one of his worst performances of the season.

Considering that the Jets have gone 3-3 in the first part of their schedule, they have to have some hope for what’s to come for the rest of the season. Even though they were without their two starting cornerbacks against the Eagles, the defense overall was still able to play quite well and force turnovers. Compared to the defense last season, the Jets forcing turnovers has been a big reason why they are having success.

While the Jets will have to face Allen one more time, and Tua twice, they do start to get a break against playing the elite quarterbacks in the league after their bye week. With how the team is playing, they should be able to cause a lot of problems for quarterbacks like Desmond Ridder, Jimmy Garoppolo, and Daniel Jones who they will be facing after the bye week.

Coming into the season, the Jets certainly had Super Bowl aspirations after the acquisition of Rodgers. However, it was the defense from last season that really made everyone feel like the Jets were just a quarterback away from being special. Through six weeks, the defense has really proved once again to be a special unit and it will be exciting to see what they do the rest of the season.
