New York Jets Head Coach Drops Bold Take On Playoff Goal

The New York Jets, like every team, has a goal of winning at the start of every season. However, some teams expect more than others.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh has been talked about as the leader of a potential Super Bowl squad. However, Saleh doesn’t just want to win one Super Bowl.

“Obviously, we all want to win games. We all want to go to the playoffs, we all want to win championships. That’s been the goal since the day we walked in here. It felt like we were going to have that opportunity last year. It didn’t happen. This year is about picking ourselves up, putting our heads down and just working,” he said according to team reporter Ethan Greenberg.

Some teams only want to win one Super Bowl, but others want to win multiple, including the Jets. If New York were to accomplish Saleh’s goal of at least two Super Bowl wins, it would effectively triple the team’s number of Super Bowl rings.

Currently, the team has won just one Lombardi trophy dating back to the Joe Namath era. If the Jets were to accomplish even doubling that number and adding some winning seasons on top of it, they could declare this decade to be the “roaring twenties” for the franchise.

Aaron Rodgers faces mountain of pressure from NFL fans ahead of 2024 season

The Jets had an opportunity to take a stab at adding a quality rookie quarterback this year. However, they went all-in on Aaron Rodgers once again.

As such, the expectations are clear for the franchise.

With Russell Wilson going down in flames with the Denver Broncos, the Jets appear to be teetering toward that same fate with another disappointing year.

The team received a pass from fans on account of the injury to its quarterback. However, another year without change would unleash criticism on the franchise not felt in more than a decade. Before Rodgers’ arrival, many fans and analysts have simply contented themselves to accept the Jets’ struggles as eternal.

In other words, another year of struggle wasn’t news. However, with the addition of Rodgers, the team placed a spotlight on itself and has been one of the big stories of the league.

If the Jets lose again in a big way, it will be massive news, just as the Broncos had to suffer through their criticism when little changed under Wilson.

Will the perennially listless Jets succeed where the still struggling Broncos failed?
