The Dallas Cowboys have been going through a Super Bowl drought and have not made an NFC Championship Game in more than 25 years. However, they are coming off three consecutive 12-win seasons and saw some key departures this offseason.

With left tackle Tyron Smith, running back Tony Pollard, center Tyler Biadasz, and defensive end Dorance Armstrong amongst the main subtractions, the team seemingly got weaker. Not to mention that Dallas’ big three of quarterback Dak Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, and linebacker Micah Parsons have not agreed to long-term extensions with the team.

Fox Sports’ Craig Carton recently discussed how he views the Cowboys not spending money this offseason as a priority of the team.

Essentially, Dallas’ priority is to save cash.

With the team in a weird spot financially and needing to figure out which players they are going to keep a year from now, the Cowboys could see their potential Super Bowl window officially close.

What should we expect out of the Dallas Cowboys in 2024?

The Cowboys are in a strange position entering the 2024 NFL season.

They have talent, but they may have lost too much.

In addition to the names we have mentioned earlier, they also lost defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who became head coach of the Washington Commanders.

Plus, the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles improved, bolstering their roster by adding players like running back Saquon Barkley, safety CJ Gardner Johnson and linebacker Bryce Huff.

The Cowboys have a decently tough schedule, as their opponents’ cumulative winning percentage of .505 is tied for 12th in the sport. However, only the New York Giants have a tougher strength of schedule in the division.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Cowboys have an over/under of 10.5 wins with the under being favored.

This team is going to need to answer a lot of questions early on, and if they do not get off to a good start, it could spell trouble in Arlington.

Dallas has a tough drawing of the schedule with a Week 7 bye and having to face the AFC North and the improved NFC South this season.

The Cowboys have a lot of work to do ahead of the season and they can still sign some key free agents that remain unsigned to better the roster. However, with how things are looking right now, Jerry Jones might be looking at a disappointing 2024 season.
