NFL Analyst Reveals Shocking Statement About Rams’ Matthew Stafford

Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has received plenty of praise over the years. However, the Rams and former Detroit Lions quarterback has always usually been stuck behind someone else in the NFC.

To many fans and analysts, Aaron Rodgers made it impossible for Stafford to even be the best quarterback in his own division during his Lions days. But with Rodgers now in the AFC and the NFC struggling to present a Patrick Mahomesian presence, people are split on their rankings.

That being said, one analyst believes Stafford might be the best in the NFC by season’s end. Speaking in a recent clip on the Ross Tucker Football Podcast, analyst Greg Cosell talked about Stafford.

He recalled a conversation he had with someone on the topic of which quarterback was the best in the NFC. Cosell claimed that Stafford’s name “came up” without “thinking about it a whole lot.”

At this point, Stafford has built up a resume as good as anyone in the NFC. He has plenty of highlights of hitting tight throws and no-look passes. Plus, he has a Super Bowl under his belt.

Flanked by Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua, he also has perhaps more weapons than he did when he won the championship during the 2021-22 campaign.

Matthew Stafford presents greatest threat to San Francisco 49ers’ NFC hegemony

Brock Purdy and Stafford might be on the shortlist for best quarterbacks in the NFC. Like Rodgers and Stafford once did, Purdy and Stafford reside in the same division.

Now, once again a question has presented itself between Stafford and someone else in his division. Is Stafford better than Purdy? With the 2023 season wrapped up, one can only look at one matchup between the quarterbacks so far.

In that contest, the Rams fell short on September 17, 2023 by a score of 23-30. There are years of history between Stafford and the 49ers. However, the two have only battled once. As such, Purdy has an early nod.

Should the two battle again in the regular season and the playoffs, there could be three more matchups this season. By the end of the year, it should be clear whether Purdy or Matthew Stafford lead the NFC West and perhaps by default, the entire NFC.
