Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is preparing to enter the final year of his contract and could be planning a training camp holdout if a new deal isn’t reached by then.

But fret not, Cowboys fans. An agreement could be on the horizon.

ESPN’s Todd Archer is reporting that Dallas has its sights set on locking up Lamb by training camp and will be starting negotiations soon.

Cowboys Are Prioritizing CeeDee Lamb Over Dak Prescott

Apparently, the Cowboys are prioritizing getting a deal done with Lamb before getting something done with quarterback Dak Prescott, which doesn’t come as too much of a surprise.

Both players have one year left on their respective deals, but Lamb probably poses more of a threat to leave Dallas than Prescott.

Plus, the Cowboys may be motivated to strike a pact with Lamb before the Minnesota Vikings extend fellow wide out Justin Jefferson. Jefferson’s deal would surely increase Lamb’s price tag, so Dallas probably wants to have an agreement finalized before then.

Of course, Lamb and his camp can always wait to see what Jefferson gets, so it is a two-way street.

But, at the very least, it appears that we are finally seeing some movement from the Cowboys’ end after a whole lot of stagnancy the first several months of the offseason.

Lamb is coming off of a brilliant 2023 campaign in which he led the NFL with 135 receptions to go along with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns. Not only did he land his third straight Pro Bowl appearance, but he also earned a First-Team All-Pro selection and finished third in Offensive Player of the Year voting.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Oklahoma, was selected by Dallas with the 17th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed an impressive rookie season, catching 74 passes for 935 yards and five scores. He then showed some improvement the following year, snaring 79 balls for 1,102 yards while reaching the end zone six times. Lamb continued his ascension in 2022, registering 107 catches for 1,359 yards and nine touchdowns.

That led to Lamb’s best campaign to date this past year.

Lamb will probably earn somewhere between $32-35 million annually. Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown recently landed a deal that will pay him $32 million per year, so CeeDee Lamb may be aiming to top that. After all, he had a better season than Brown in 2023.
