The Kansas City Chiefs continue to find ways to win football games, even if Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have to make heroic plays.

The conversation around the Kansas City Chiefs is odd. They’re a perfect 5-0 on the 2024 NFL season — the last remaining unbeaten squad — yet people are trying to fix their problems. Sure, their wins haven’t been perfect, but they’ve found ways to win games.

Evidently, the standard is set for a team who has come away with two-straight Super Bowl victories. The connection between superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce has bailed the team out of plenty of tough situations, as they continually connect for key plays.

The duo did so on Monday night, as the club defeated the New Orleans Saints 26-13.

Mahomes details interesting play with Kelce

On one play, the Chiefs needed to get into field goal range. Before the play, Mahomes told Kelce he was going to throw him to ball so they could achieve such.

“I told him before the play, I said, ‘I’m going to throw it to you so we can get in field goal range,'” Mahomes explained.

“He underhand shoveled it across the entire field. It’s like I’m talking to Sterling [Mahomes].”

The quote just proves the chemistry between the two. They’re not foreign to plays that look like they’re playing backyard football, and that’s all it was on Monday.

Mahomes connected with Kelce, who was running into traffic. He bailed himself out of the situation with a lateral pass, which many coaches across the league would despite to see. However, Kelce somehow makes it work and made a big play.

Mahomes compared it to talking to his child, Sterling, as Kelce just went out, improvised and made a fun football play.

Chiefs continue to find ways to win

The Chiefs continue to find ways to win. They’re winners. That’s why they are 5-0 after winning two straight Super Bowls. Mahomes explained such after the victory, citing stout defense and field goals as big reasons for recent victories.

“We’ve won different ways. At the end of the day, our defense is playing their tail off, and I think people are starting to come to realize that even more, even when we’re getting these field goals (that) are keeping us in these games,” Mahomes said.

The duo of Mahomes and Kelce initially connected on their electric play to set up an eventual field goal on third-and-22. They found a way to nearly pick up a first down and get into field goal range, and that lone play shows just about how the Chiefs’ season has gone thus far.
