Seattle Seahawks Could Still Target These Three Free Agents

The Seattle Seahawks are under new leadership in 2024. With head coach Pete Carroll stepping down and being reassigned within the organization, Mike Macdonald is taking over as head coach.

Macdonald is coming over from the Baltimore Ravens, where he was their defensive coordinator. He is going to view things differently than Carroll when it comes to roster building, which could lead to a few more additions during training camp.

Who could the Seattle Seahawks look to add? They are short on cap space, having about $8 million in space.

At this point of the offseason, established veterans looking to latch on with a team could be willing to take less money. Over at All Seahawks on Fan Nation, Nick Lee has suggested a few different players for the team to target.

One of those players is linebacker Zach Cunningham. The Seattle Seahawks suffered major losses at linebacker this offseason, with Bobby Wagner and Jordyn Brooks moving on.

Two of the players they signed to help offset those losses, Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson, haven’t been healthy enough to practice yet. Cunningham is a proven veteran who could step into the starting lineup as he did for the Philadelphia Eagles last year.

The next suggested free agent target is Greg Van Roten. The Seattle Seahawks made one move in free agency already for the interior of the offensive line, signing Laken Tomlinson.

However, inexperience could be plentiful across the starting unit. Right now, second-year player Olu Oluwatimi is projected to start at center with rookie Christian Hayes at right guard. Van Roten would give the team an experienced option at either guard spot.

Last but not least, the Seattle Seahawks could look to take a swing on center Connor Williams. He suffered a torn ACL in Week 14 last season, putting his availability in question for the beginning of the 2024 season.

When on the field, he is a solid producer as both a run and pass blocker. Bringing Williams in could be a low-risk, high-reward move. He would provide the team with insurance should Oluwaitmi doesn’t excel in the role and is a massive upgrade on current backup Nick Harris.
