Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will be in the Super Bowl conversation once again this season, even without Rashee Rice.

Every NFL fanbase wants to see their team become a real dynasty.

A top coach, a star quarterback, brilliant players on both sides of the bowl, a head coach who can pull it all together and reach the Super Bowl a few times in the process.

Those dreams have become reality for the Kansas City Chiefs, reaching the Super Bowl in four of the last five seasons.

The Chiefs have won three of those and will be gunning for another appearance at the Super Bowl in New Orleans come February.

Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are 5-0 on the season despite some unconvincing moments and few will want to face them in the post-season.

The Chiefs have though suffered a major blow.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice has suffered a knee injury and will likely miss the rest of the season.

Rice was emerging as a real star but a freak clash with Mahomes means he has played his final game this season.

Mahomes must now throw to the likes of JuJu Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Skyy Moore and rookie Xavier Worthy.

There is talent in those ranks but NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe believes that the Chiefs need to make a trade.

Sharpe suggested one huge name for a potential deal – Tyreek Hill.

The Chiefs traded Hill to the Miami Dolphins in 2022 despite him wreaking havoc for NFL defenses alongside Mahomes.

Sharpe has now suggested on Nightcap that Hill is the man who can bring a ‘fear factor’ that the likes of Worthy simply can’t provide for the Chiefs.

Co-host Chad Ochocinco would prefer to trust Worthy to make the step up, but claimed the Chiefs should simply be handed the Vince Lombardi Trophy if a Hill return materialises.

“Hey, Tyreek, hey, Miami… y’all want to trade us Tyreek back?” said Sharpe. “I’m going to Tyreek first because he knows the offense, Ocho.”

“I like it but they don’t need to, not based on what I saw (against the Saints),” said Ochocinco.

Sharpe: “No no no, that’s not good enough Ocho. Tyreek is that fear factor.”

Ochocinco: “But they’ve already got Xavier Worthy!”

Sharpe: “He ain’t the boogeyman. I want you afraid to come outside.”

Ochocinco: “That ain’t even fair. Think about if they did get Tyreek and Xavier Worthy at the same time. If Tyreek was to come back, just say hypothetically speaking, how about we just hand them the damn Lombardi now?”

Would the Dolphins be tempted?

This sounds unlikely but not completely out of the question.

The Dolphins were hoping to reach the playoffs this season but Tua Tagovailoa’s injury woes mean their hopes are already in doubt.

Hill and co currently have a 2-3 record and it’s hard to see them reaching the post-season with Tyler Huntley or Skylar Thompson under center.

Hill will surely want to win right now and if the Dolphins aren’t in a position to do that, a return to the Chiefs may appeal.

The Chiefs could package some picks together and bring Hill back whilst handing the Dolphins some valuable picks if they want a new quarterback in 2025.

The Dolphins have other talent at wide receiver too, so a deal may entirely off the table.

The salary cap may put paid to any trade plans though, unless the Chiefs get creative, especially after Hill signed a new deal with the Dolphins in August.
