This Chiefs Playmaker Could Bring Great Value In 2024

For years, the Kansas City Chiefs have been a popular team for Fantasy Football managers to target. They have been a high-scoring unit as long as Andy Reid has been head coach with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.

In 2024, it should be more of the same. Except this time around, Mahomes has some new weapons to work with.

Despite winning the Super Bowl last season for a second straight year, the Chiefs had some weaknesses to address. Near the top of that list was help at wide receiver.

Since trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins, the team has struggled to find suitable replacements. Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore have both been very disappointing and likely played themselves out of being long-term pieces.

That led to Kansas City making some additions in the offseason. With their first-round pick, they selected Texas speedster Xavier Worthy.

Worthy will garner plenty of attention in Fantasy Football, given his talent, draft pedigree and landing spot. But, in the opinion of Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report, it is another new addition at wide receiver that presents the most value; Marquise Brown.

“There will be no shortage of hype surrounding rookie Xavier Worthy as we move through camp, and Rashee Rice’s legal issues and potential suspension add some uncertainty to the WR room for the two-time defending champs. But Brown is the most proven wideout on the team and a player who could be headed for the best season of his career,” Davenport wrote.

A first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens, Brown spent the last two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. His production was a bit underwhelming, as he dealt with injuries and star quarterback Kyler Murray also worked his way back from an ACL tear.

Going from the rebuilding Cardinals to the Super Bowl-contending Chiefs is a major upgrade for Brown. Murray is a good quarterback, but he isn’t in the same stratosphere as Mahomes; to be fair, no quarterback seems to be.

Brown has a good chance to be this year’s version of JuJu Smith-Schuster in Kansas City. Smith-Schuster signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs in 2022, produced at a high level, won a Super Bowl ring and turned it into a multi-year deal in free agency with the New England Patriots.

There is nothing stopping Brown from doing the same thing. The Chiefs have a clear need at the position and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if he took over as the team’s No. 1 receiver.
