Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love took the NFL world by storm last season, and legendary signal-caller Tom Brady certainly took notice.

So, what was Love’s secret to such a successful debut campaign as the Packers’ starting quarterback?

Brady thinks it was what Love did during his first three seasons in the league: observe.

“You look at Jordan Love, he had Aaron Rodgers to watch,” Brady said during an appearance on The Herd. “That’s the best type of training, in my opinion. Watch someone else do it at a very high level and then try to emulate them with your own personality.”

Love, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was selected by Green Bay with the 26th overall pick of the NFL Draft.

It was viewed as a peculiar choice at the time, as the Packers were still trying to win a Super Bowl with Rodgers under center and many felt they should draft a wide receiver.

But it seems to have been the right decision.

Love learned on the job as Rodgers’ backup for three years before Green Bay ultimately traded Rodgers to the New York Jets last spring, opening the door for Love to start.

Jordan Love Had a Scintillating Second Half of 2023

Love didn’t get off to a particularly great start, and it reflected in the Packers’ record, as they went just 3-6 over their first nine games of 2023.

However, over the back half of the season, Love caught fire, and Green Bay did with him.

Throughout his final eight regular-season games, Love totaled 18 passing touchdowns and just one interception, leading the Packers to a 6-2 record during that span. Green Bay also managed to sneak into the playoffs as a Wild Card.

What’s more, Love and the Packers upset the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round, with the 25-year-old throwing three touchdowns and no picks.

Green Bay would end up falling to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round the following week, but Love demonstrated that the future is very bright in the tundra.

On the 2023 campaign overall, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdown and 11 interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 96.1.

We’ll see if Jordan Love continues to impress Tom Brady in 2024.
