It has been no secret that Las Vegas Raiders star wide receiver Davante Adams has been unhappy with the franchise, and now the team will grant his trade request.

Davante Adams originally joined the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency, leaving the Green Bay Packers and, at the time, Aaron Rodgers to play with his college quarterback Derek Carr.

Having played 17 games in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Adams has been healthy and reliable for the team since signing with them. After three appearances in 2024, the star wide receiver has requested a trade, and the Raiders are going to honor that and find a trade partner.

The 31-year-old receiver only has so much time to play elite football, and teams will want to capitalize on this and make a trade to receive his services.

Adams prefers two familiar situations

While the Raiders can ultimately trade Adams to whatever situation makes the most sense for them, it appears Las Vegas will work with the wide receiver to find a trade partner. Adams prefers to play for the New York Jets or New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN.

Why those two teams? Something Adams certainly prioritizes is familiarity with a quarterback — which both of the aforementioned teams have. Rodgers, a legendary Packers quarterback, is the signal-caller for the Jets. Carr, Adams’ former quarterback with the Raiders and in college, is under center in New Orleans.

Those two teams are atop Adams’ list, but the team can ultimately trade him anywhere, and a few teams make plenty of sense to land his talents.

Commanders an underdog to land Adams

The Washington Commanders currently sit 3-1 on the season and hold the top spot in the NFC East. They posted just four wins in 2023, but the arrival of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has turned around their offense.

The two sides can be linked, too. On an appearance on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams, Adams was complimentary of Daniels.

“[Daniels] a special player,” Adams said on the show. “We were hoping that maybe all the teams didn’t think so and he could slip down to the Raiders a little while ago.”

There’s a world where Adams can still be a target of Daniels, and the Commanders would be able to continue piling momentum and improve their chances of winning their division.

Adams is a true veteran and the Commanders also have Terry McLaurin at the position. The receiver duo could make like very, very easy for the rookie quarterback, as he’s already thriving in his role for Washington.

The move would be similar to the Buffalo Bills adding Stefon Diggs, trading for him to surround Josh Allen with more talent. The same goes for the Houston Texans, who also recently just added Diggs around a young C.J. Stroud.

Trading for Adams would certainly help to progress Daniels’ career quicker while helping the Commanders’ chances of competing at the highest level as soon as this season. Keep an eye on Washington as the trade rumors continue to develop.
