As we get closer to the start of the 2024 season, what can we expect to see from Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen?
The 2023 campaign was a strange one for the Bills. For a good chunk of the season, it looked like Buffalo was on the verge of missing the playoffs. However, after a great stretch run, the Bills ended up winning the AFC East and were one of the top seeds in the conference.
Unfortunately for the Bills, they once again came up short against the Kansas City Chiefs, as they suffered yet another defeat to Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs. Now, they have run into some salary cap issues after years of success.
This offseason, the Bills elected to move on from Stefon Diggs after some great years with the organization. The decision to part ways with Diggs didn’t come as too much of a surprise, as it seemed like he was starting to fall out of favor in Buffalo this past season.
Without Diggs, the Bills’ offense will look very different, however, as we might see them continue to focus on being more balanced on the offensive side of the ball. The balanced attack on offense seemed to help them turn things around in the second half of last season.
While being balanced on offense is important, the Bills do have one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Josh Allen. Allen has consistently been in the MVP conversation the past few seasons, but he is going to have to elevate some of the players around him this season with Diggs gone.
Allen is coming off a tough 2023 season by his standards, as he totaled 29 touchdown passes and 18 interceptions. Turning the ball over was a big issue for Allen, and now he is going to be asked to do more.
As we head into the 2024 season, Allen is going to have to be more efficient if the Bills want to make the playoffs once again. With Dalton Kincaid as his number one option in the receiving game as the tight end, Allen will have to make his young receiving corps rise to the occasion.
We can expect Allen to continue to be a force on the ground, as last year he totaled 524 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.
Hopefully Josh Allen does a better job at protecting the football than he did last season, and the increased rushing attack should help in that area. If he does that, he should have a strong season in 2024.
