The New Orleans Saints have shocked the NFL in September. Most expected the Saints to triumph over the Carolina Panthers, but the margin by which they won was a stunner. Then, they upset the Dallas Cowboys, who were riding high after their massive win over the Browns.

After such a hot start, fans have been quick to congratulate the Saints on how they’ve started the year. However, how will the year end for New Orleans?

Derek Carr has proved that he will be in the Super Bowl conversation going forward.

Here’s why that is the case.

Derek Carr is for real

At the time of writing, both Carr and Baker Mayfield are tied for leading the league in touchdown passes. Both also have one interception. Last year, Mayfield brought the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the playoffs in their first season without Tom Brady. Carr, having gone blow for blow with Mayfield in the comparison after two weeks, has elevated his floor into the playoff conversation. That is only one step away from a deep playoff run which could morph into a Super Bowl run.

Carr has already been to the playoffs before, so he won’t be out of his element in sudden death. At this point, the Saints quarterback has unfinished business and a level of focus unseen in his career. He has been part of 12-win teams in the past. This looks like another such season.

Alvin Kamara is revitalized for the New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara lost some stock this offseason as fans noted his decrease in production last season. Some called him old as he headed into an age 29 season. He now has had the perfect response.

Per Pro Football Reference, Kamara has already nearly tied his touchdown production from last season. With Week 2 now in the books, Kamara has earned four rushing touchdowns. He hasn’t earned more than five rushing touchdowns since 2020, when he had 16 rushing scores.
